I know that but with it being so old im worried about it cracking trying to get it out

looks like you have the hard part done already. There can't be much left to hold it on.

Ok, sorry for the short answer earlier. I have not removed a Vega one but I have taken the one out of my Monza a few times.On a Monza there are a few small studs that are molded into the pad and you have to remove the nuts from the back. Then there are spring clips on top of the dash and you can just slide the dash pad out from them. I would guess the Vega is very similar, look from behind especially on the passenger side and see if there are any nuts holding it on. It should come out fairly easily.

You have to remove the grab bar first to get the dash pad off; there's 2 nuts accessible with the glove box out.
