starter-3 wire, harness-2 wire ?

Postby thefatguy » Mon Feb 06, 2012 2:56 pm

ok, the starter has 3 terminals--1 fat bastard for the battery and the 3/8 ring terminal wire obviously. but where does the remaining single wire go to, the inner ( towards oilpan ) terminal, or the outer (towards tire ) terminal ? anyone know ? thanks in advance.....

if there's 3 terminals, the 12g. purple "start" wire goes on the inside(on the right viewed from the front). The 3rd. extra terminal is there to provide a full 12 volts to the coil while cranking on older points triggered ignitions. To confuse things further, most of the newer and aftermarket 2 wire starters have moved the wire to the outside position.

and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....
