acceptable ohms: spark plug wires

Postby barebonesracecars » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:16 pm

What would you guys consider an acceptable ohm reading to be for a plug wire?

I'm checking a batch of wires and trying to decide which ones to throw out.

Getting readings from 9.13 to 16.66.

Most plug wires have some range that's acceptable, but every brand has a different spec. It's usually somewhere between 1000 and 10,000 ohms/ft. If what you're measuring on the meter is with the 1k(one thousand) ohms scale they're all somewhere in there. High performance aftermarket resistance wires might be as low as 100 ohms/ft.

Thanks, Spence.

By the way, one of these days I want to get back up to Halifax and see the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic again. Didn't get to spend enough time there before.

Maybe I can drop by and talk a little 'H-body', too.

Reid- You(and petty well any forum member) are more than welcome to contact me if you're going to be in the area. I'll round up any other like-minded H-body fans and we'll have coffee(or beer or whatever).

Sounds good. I'll keep that in mind when I get back there. It's on my 'Bucket List".

Oh, and a Pepsi would do me just fine. :th:
