Only the early Vega's had the fusible link at the horn relay; on the later cars it's at the starter. if it's burned out it killls everything, not just the alternator. Don't overlook the other possibility; if the idiot light is burned out(or unplugged) in the cluster the alternator won't turn on. Get a hold of a meter or test light and check the smaller brown wire on the 2-pin plug; it should show power when the key is on. The 2 red wires(both the one on the post and the one in the 2-pin plug) join together inside the harness about a foot or so from the alternator.
