73 hatchback changing over to v-8 with an external Holley Blue fuel pump and using Auto Meter Fuel gauge. Okay, My plan here is to use the stock wiring for the stock fuel pump to both power the pump and the gauge. I followed the blue and tan wire from the back to the front and while the tan wire for the gauge is easily traced and I know where it is for the gauge, the Blue wire travels the same path, only to be turned into a PINK wire at the connector under the dash and then into the main plug. From there, the Pink wire travels behind the dash and, at least as far as I can tell, acts as a common power wire, supplying power to dash lights, gauges and even the stereo. So, am I crazy, or is that the case. If so, how is that even possible. Does the blue wire terminate at that connector, or is that where it starts, powered by the pink wire to the rear of the car? if so, can I run a jump wire to a switch from the blue wire to power the pump?
I know this is a convoluted question, I'm just trying to figure out how to use those wires, so I dont have to run more wires. Anny help or advice would be awesome! Thanks a lot!
