Removing fuse panel

Postby Brian » Sat Sep 21, 2013 1:32 pm

I've nearly completed stripping down my parts car (several pieces of which have gone to some of the fine folk here) but I'm having a heck of a time with the fuse panel.

I've removed the nuts holding the fuse box to the firewall but can't find the tabs to separate the fuse panel inside the car from the retaining bracket on the other side of the firewall.

At least, I assume there must be tabs that allow me to separate those pieces because I can't figure any other way that they could have mounted it this way.

Then came the lawyers, then came the rules
Then came the trains and the trucks with their loads
And the dirty old track was the Telegraph Road.

Have you removed the bolt from the engine comp side holding the harness in?

Brian if you did all of the above you will have to PULL they are TIGHT think 20+ connectors all at once. I seem to remember rocking it back and forth it was a lot harder than I thought the first time. You'll get it! Harry

Yes.

I'll give it a shot. I'm not planning on using the harness so it won't be too bad if something breaks.

Thanks!

Hey Bri, the nut on the engine side is a bolt that is buried in the center of the thing, I've used a 10mm / 3/8" socket with a swivel socket and a long extension to get to them.

Then the panel should separate into 2 halves pretty easily once the bolts out..

Ah! I had removed the two holding the panel to the firewall, did not know about one holding the pieces together.

Thanks Marco!

Saved me some grief later today I imagine. :)
