Anyone Try This on a 71-73 Vega Reverse Light?

Postby dadhad1 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 8:29 am

Hey Guys,

Wanted to pick some brains to see if anyone has done this...

It bugs me that there is only a single filament bulb for the reverse light/lens.
To do something cool (I think anyway) & custom, between the inside of the lens and the bucket, I want to shroud the factory bulb in the center to only the center clear section of the lens.
Then install 2 little 2 filament bulbs on each side of the existing center bulb, and daisy chain the wires from the factory taillight.
This would illuminate all 'red' areas of all 4 lenses in the manner for parking lights/blinker/brake lighting.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this, anything of value learned, how they did it, and if they have any recommendations...

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

I'm not sure how well it will work. I don't think the area around the clear part is much of a lens, it's more of a reflector. Give it a shot and let us know.

I wish I were at that stage with my car. It's cool little customizations that make a car unique and special imo.

Just thinking LED's would probably work well in there too.

Watch your total wattage. Don't want to melt the lens.
