Hi All...First Post!!! I recently bought a 75 Vega with a few mods . I need to install a wiper motor in order to pass inspection. The car has had most of the factory wiring stripped out as well as the dash and all it's components. I've purchased a rebuilt wiper motor and a rotary wiper switch and need some guidance wiring it up. Oh---I forgot to mention my knowledge of electrical is just slightly above knowing how to screw a lightbulb in! The switch is a Cole Hersee #75228-03-BX, it's a 2 speed with a push button washer fluid. Here's a pic of switch:

I'm hoping someone here can tell me how to wire this up-- did I mention I'm piss-poor at this??. So please type slowly so I can understand. Thanks!

Oh yeah, here's a pic of my slightly modded Vega:

First off, I will point out that GM wiper motor switches are ground switched; the accessory power from the key goes directly to the motor and not to the switch. It's like this so the wipers will "park" when you turn off the switch. If you number the terminals on the motor from left to right in your pic, the 12v+ goes on #1. #2 and #4(#3 is blank) are low and high; I forget which is which but easy to test. To wire the aftermarket switch, all you have to do is put ground on terminal marked B(the aftermarket switch is originally meant for Battery switched) and a wire from L to low and one from H to high. If you're also wiring up the washers, the + terminal on the pump would be hooked to accessory power + and the W terminal on the switch will go to the pump's - terminal.
Also the wiper motor itself should be grounded to the body of the car; originally, one of the rubber isolated mounting bolts would have had a grounding strip on it.

Thanks Spencer!! Finally something I can understand! I couldn't figure out what the "B" terminals connected to. Does the "P" terminal remain unused? Also I couldn't really see a ground strap anywhere so I guess I'll have to add a ground. Thanks again for the quick response!

The wiper motor is coming out right after inspection. The engine bay has been fitted with custom aluminum panels which don't fit with the wiper motor in. Besides, it never rains in Vancouver.

In the original application(big rig) for that universal switch, the P terminal went to the park position terminal on the wiper motor. NOT to be used with the GM motor.
And saying it never rains in Vancouver is like saying it never snows in Winnipeg. Or in the case of this winter, Halifax.
