I'm not sure how gas that was good on August 15th could go bad by September 24th.

Let me clarify- there still was gas in the tank from the time (about 18 months) which I did not drain and did not clean the carb from sitting so long. My mechanic nephew was the one that told me he thought that was a big part of the problem. All I care about is that it is running again and I can drive my beast again-

Well, in spite of my good intentions and anticipation about getting the Beast back on the road it don't look like it is going to happen. I drove it maybe three times and then I just about did not make it home. Cutting out and felt like no compression and just overall tired of messing with the stock 2.3 fourbanger. Can't do much for a few months but looking at just a good old Chevy small block with automatic tranny- No big hot rodding stuff or anything else but just a daily driver that I could drive anywhere.

fresh gas is imperative to get it running .. also, are you certain that the distributor is not installed 180 degrees out ? .. or a tooth off ?

I had not touched the distributor since I bought the Beast in 2008. The only things I had done was putting a new carburetor on it and the problem I had with the wiring. Several people had suggested changing the fuel filter so I tried doing that yesterday but where the fuel line attached to the big nut on the side the Ferrell nut was boogered up bad and would not come off so I just took the carb off in one piece and left it alone from there. I am not adverse to leaving the 140 in it but also like the idea of a small block with an automatic tranny. Biggest hurdle for me now is the $$$$$$!!!
