Lol, yep.

Some alternators rectify the stator Y connection by adding two more diodes, good for roughly 5 amps in my experience.

Back from the alternator shop with my 94 amp 12si wye wound alternator($65.00). After reading all of the reply's, links and info from other web sites , I have a plan. The 12si will go back in for now. The cs130 is out the window. While the folks that re-manufacturer these units have helped some or the heat issues that were common to the cs130 , that issue still remains. At this point doing what is necessary to install the cs144 seams to be the best long term solution. Putting the 12si in for now will give me time to find the best way to mount and wire the cs144.
As always Thanks for all your help . Jim H

The heat issues with the CS130 resulted from the rectifier being attached to the case with heat sink compound. the case could not dissipate the heat very well and led to early rear bearing failure. As i noted in the previous post the reman folks were aware of these issues and took corrective action, including using a larger 10mm bearing vers the original 8mm. Ibelive that their were some case mod also.
This was just one of the reasons that I decided to skip the 130 and move to the 144.

Rebuilt thousands of cs130's and they have to have heatsink compound on the rectifier. The original rear bearing was indeed too small.

As to the subject of longevity, I doubt if anyone on here puts enough miles on their H-body "toys"to ever actually wear out an alternator.

After deciding to go with the cs144, I went to pull-a -part got a cs144 out of a mid 90,s eldorado . the adjusting arm is approximately 1 inch longer than the si12. Pivot point the same. I was able to drill and tap a new hole in the adjusting arm and mount it in the existing brackets with no modifications to the brackets. I replaced the hex head bolt with a socket cap Allen head to clear the coiling fan.
I have the p/s-ac set up with the alternator on top of the water pump. The eldorado version comes with with the serpentine pulley and will need to swap to v-belt .
Thanks to everyone for all the of the reply's.
