As for the resistance of the gauge itself I have never seen that info and it is usually the ground or the sender itself [I would be reluctant to check it, as many gauges use even less current than some Multi-meters put out for the "Ohm's" setting]. The OEM sender isn't available anymore but as called out in these links there may be an alternative, also if you do the same search I did and go through all the results some one here took theirs apart and fixed it, time consuming Yes, Free, I seem to recall Yes!
