Anyone out there know the ohm range for the 76 Vega gas gauge? Also anyone have a Pertronix 4 cylinder unit that they want to get rid of? Willing to pay $75 for an unused unit. Thanks.

It should be the same as most GM vehicles from the same era- 0 ohms empty to 90 ohms full.

Hi Thomas! Here are a few links hopefully with the answer you are looking for: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=31536 And this one: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=24377&start=15 I hope this is the part info you were asking about. As for the resistance of the gauge itself I have never seen that info and it is usually the ground or the sender itself [I would be reluctant to check it, as many gauges use even less current than some Multi-meters put out for the "Ohm's" setting]. The OEM sender isn't available anymore but as called out in these links there may be an alternative, also if you do the same search I did and go through all the results some one here took theirs apart and fixed it, time consuming Yes, Free, I seem to recall Yes! Harry Looks like Spencer beat me to it! :cuss: :censored:

I work on a lot of old cars with wonky fuel gauges; 1/3 of the time it's a bad ground on the tank, 1/3 of them have a broken or corroded wire, and the rest the actual sender has failed. Almost never is it the gauge itself.

Thanks guys for the info. I thought it was 0 to 90 but wanted to make sure before I ordered an aftermarket gauge. Thanks again.
