smaller alternator

made up my alternator bracket from an older Zoops big block bracker that mounted the alternator on the drivers side, in middle of engine. now i have it on the passenger side, just outbound of the valve cover, and it is tight to valve cover,. the standard size alternator i am using(70s 2 prong) is real close to valve cover. is there any type of smaller alternator that has all the same specs as the standard alternator i mentioned, but with a smaller width body to help clear the valve cover, and bolt into the alternator bracket (2" wide mounting pad), and stlll have the pulleys line right up the same as the standard alternator., and give me aprox 100 amps power output. thanks art

Maybe try one of these 7 lb mini denso alternators, I will be using a 70 amp unit but there is a 90 amp model also, these are single wire activated but can be wired with the 3 wires and act like a regular alternator, you will have to get creative with the mounting brackets but it can be done.
Mine is installed and wired on the passenger side, I have not run it yet so I don't know how well it will work.

Better option than the ND alternators is a cs130 Delco unit.

CS130 is what's on my drag car; I doubt if it's any more than a pound heavier than the Nipponenso Suzuki one. My hauler is the only quiet place in the pits- no generator and battery charger running between rounds. Notice the "vintage" Moroso 5" underdrive pulley; I really should swap it for a 4" one, as the car really doesn't charge properly below 1500rpm. And I have a 5-minute timer for the fan and waterpump to cool down between rounds so I can't forget to shut stuff off.
