Vega Fuel Gauge

Postby MR1969 » Sat Dec 23, 2017 9:21 pm

Bought a 72 that has been converted to a SB V8. The fuel gauge does not work. It has a external electric Holley fuel pump on it now using the factory fuel tank. any idea why it will not work? Read something about the fuel sender/ internal fuel pump running off the engine oil pressure switch, if this is correct how would I wire it to get the power or signal I need? Really need to have this gauge to work as the 3x2 really suck down the gas. Want to work on this soon. All help greatly appreciated.

The oil pressure switch shuts off the power to the fuel pump not the sending unit.
check the ground from the sender to the body and the connections at the tank.

Tan wire in the spare tire compartment is fuel gauge, connector also has blue ( fuel pump). Disconnect, check ohms of sender to good ground, approx 10 empty, 90 full. I use a 100 ohm pot at to check wiring and gauge going forward.
