Turn signals

Sorry, I know very little about wiring,
On my 1975 Vega, I have power running thru my turn signal wires when the key is off.
I'm not sure how to follow the power inside the column? any ideas? When I have power,key
on, I check that it does blink correctly when touch it with my circuit tester and the blinker
lever on. Any ideas, really.

Never owned a Vega but I have owned numerous 70s and 80s GMs. For the most part GM used a very similar set up for the turn signal system in that era. With the standard flasher in order for it to flash it had to have good bulbs in the system. So have you checked the bulbs and confirmed they are all good. I would check the flasher as well. You could also install a solid state flasher, the bonus with them as they will cycle or flash even with burnt out bulbs which helps sometimes sort out where bad bulbs or connections might be. When you say it "doesn't blink correctly", what does it do? The bulbs just stay on solid? The bulbs do not come on at all? It should have two flashers located down on the fuse block, one will be for the turn signals and one will be for the emergency flasher.

Are any of the turn signal bulbs illuminated with the key off? The switching is normally on the power side, so if there is power in the circuit the bulbs should be lit. If that's so, you may have a short in the turn signal switch between the brake light or horn circuit and the turn signal circuit.

I'm so sorry for wasting your time, as I've posted, I know next to nothing about wiring,
but have wired my race cars, actually read the instructions, anyways, I have been
checking everything outside the car, as in wiring across my work bench.
So, as looking at the bulbs lite up brightly, as like the brake lights are on,
yes, the brake lights, as the brake pedal light switch is not depressed!
