How do I eliminate oil pressure/fuel pump switch?

Postby fas141 » Wed Oct 05, 2022 7:34 am

I am wanting to remove the oil pressure fuel pump switch on my 77 V8 Monza. Is it just a matter of splicing two wires to override it? Thanks.

Just jumper the two parallel terminals of the oil pressure sender socket.

FYI, the oil pressure switch is a safety feature to prevent the fuel pump from running in the event of an accident or other reason that the engine stalls. On a conventional engine this is accomplished with a mechanical fuel pump, once the engine stops the fuel pump stops. With a electric pump there needs to be a means to shut the fuel pump off so it doesn't keep pumping fuel if something happens. It could save your or someone else's life. If there is a problem with the sender it is a easy fix. Sometimes we don't think about this kind of stuff but it can happen.
