I just bought a 4-1/2" cowl hood from Unlimited for my Skyhawk. They said 8 weeks to make and another week to get it to me. That was 100% as promised.
HOWEVER, they delivered a Vega cowl hood. So, I started calling. The Hispanic lady who usually answers was very nice. She took all the pertinent info and promised a call back. First time promise was later that day. Next time I called it was ditto and expect a call tomorrow. Another time is I was told about an trying email. But, a response that might take awhile because they were busy. In the meantime I began the emails in earnest.
Reading online about other's experiences with them.... one guy said to keep calling. At some point you'd get somebody else. IT WORKED! I talked with Sonia who took my info and promised a call the next day....she had to speak with the boss ( I assume ). It was a business like conversation and I was on my best behavior.:Which helps. By that time and after all the attempts made, I wasn't holding my breath. Lo and behold, the very next morning she called back. They sent me a new hood no charge!!!
I have to say both hoods were very very nice. The finish was good, better than expected, the fit was good enough, and their sales literature said they weren't perfect. I'm paraphrasing here , but,..As a buyer, they said it would be wise to look it over and do what you think it requires to suit your needs. In July 2026 I paid about $375 for the hood that happened to be on sale that month. In reality, I really could slam it on and call it a day. I know this: How many of us H Body guys ever put any part, besides an exact factory replacement piece, that fit without any trouble making it work IOT suit our needs? Unlimited's prices are lower than some. I've seen stuff from other vendors that costs more and isn't any better. A lot of parts, like from an unnamed vendor from up north, are a step or so above crap. And, hardly any product made of fiberglass can be installed without extra time and material put into to the item? This company isn't a back door garage entity. They are much bigger than just stuff for cars They have good equipment and a staff big enough to plus or minus get a part out the door and on the way as stated at the time of sale.
I sold the hood to a guy here on this site a week and a half ago. If I can get him to pay , which hasn't happened yet ( 3-7-2026 ) I'll be happy. I have a history with H Bodys that goes back over 25 years. Some think I am crazy for putting a Buick 350 V8 in it instead of an SBC. That may be the case. But, I am honest. How about the guy on this webring that has my hood and my money? If he doesn't pay, I'll inform everybody here to be wary
