1972-77 Vega/Astre rear window louvers

Postby gregh » Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:34 pm

I'm the owner of a 75 Chevy Monza and when I couldn't find rear window louvres for my car I made them. I've since gone on to make about 25 sets for other owners and kept getting asked if I could make them for Vega's and Astre's.
It took a while to find a car to model them from first, and then a bit more time to work out the design and mounting system but the first batch of nine is done and most of them sent out.
I have two left, they are $300 us each plus shipping. UPS shipping has been averaging 50 to $70 us, just depends where you are.
if you're interested in a set send me a message and I'll give you a shipping quote. Payment is through PayPal because it's the easiest and safest way for everybody.
Installation is about a 5-minute process plus drying time for the silicone.
The louvres are .063 aluminum, powder coated a textured carbide black and the mounting strips are stainless steel.
Here's an installation video showing how easy it is to put them on your car.

Because of the limitations of this website for picture size, I'll upload some photos of these installed shortly.

They look Great. Nice work! I have a couple of questions however, is the only thing actually holding the louvers to the car the trim molding clips? The stainless sides ride directly onto the glass with no peel and stick thin rubber cushioning? I feel like they would rattle riding directly against the glass. My 2c worth, still, very nice work.

If you watch the installation video, the instructions clearly say that your silicone the stainless steel strips to the glass under the Chrome window trim. I used a very similar mounting system on the Monza louvres I built and there was no rattle to the stainless strips. I just stripped my car down for paint and had to remove the louvres and mounting strips. The silicone was on there really solid because I prepped and cleaned it first properly.

Very nice indeed. Someone did a super job with the trim pieces also I see. I like the look, I'll consider a set for sure as I get closer to completion....and retirement.

I'll just let you know I won't be making these forever. I'm in the process of a second batch. They're going for powder coat tomorrow and then up for sale and I won't make more until I have the demand for at least 10 at a time.
