the thousand islands thing was a last ditch senario if all other ideas fail, just thought id throw it out there if you want to avoid traffic at any cost. i know taunton road comes all the way to 115 we came from tims that route a couple years ago. ron used the 407 last year and i believe he said it was around 30 to 35 bucks from one end to the other. being from the states they might not be able to send you a bill for the toll if youre lucky, dont count on it tho lol. im shure ron will chime in when he gets to a puter.

Fred is right, you can also head south from Highway & at almost anytime after the 407 and go straight across to the 115. But I would do it after Simcoe Rd. though, just to avoid the cities along the way, although they really aren't that bad. Besides, you'd get a lot of honks/waves with your Skyhawk on the back.

Thank you gentlemen. All good information.

Harry: I'm sure I don't want to cross at Detroit, but we could still possibly hook up at London. If I get rolling when I plan to I should be there around 2 pm.

Ok guys, let me ask this: how far east of Oshawa do I need to be at a minimum (on either Winchester or Taunton) until it's safe to head back south to the 401?

At least to 35 / 115?

Remember I'm pulling a trailer and would like to avoid stops & starts in small towns as much as possible. Prefer to keep rolling!

I would at the very least get past Salem Rd. in Ajax (West of Oshawa), but preferably get to the 115, via Winchester/Concession 7 or Taunton Rd. Taunton Rd will stop you more often than Winchester since it goes thru more, larger towns/cities.

Keep in mind this is just for the trip here, on the way home on Sunday, you can stay with the 401 the entire way since the cottage/long weekend traffic won't be on the road till Monday so you'll fly home.

The first 3 were from the roof of my garage overlooking the parking area and the last 2 are, obviously, at our present location from the roof of the house overlooking the area betwen the house and the barn and garage. We had a TV tower beside the house for easy access to the roof, I guess I'll have to put a ladder there this year now that the tower was taken down when I started building the deck.

Just put up a tall post with a pulley at the top. We can wrap a rope around Jamie and hoist him up.

That'll work, we still have the original pulley mechanisms they had in the barns for hoisting straw/haw into the upper levels of the barn. I'll rig it up later.

...powered by an H-body....

Better yet, a TEAM of H-bodies. Maybe you should set up that picture, too.

And then add up the estimated horsepower of the harness. :D

Received birth certificate yesterday.

Passport card applied for today. They tell me 4 weeks. Cutting it close, so I can only hope.

Next obstacle: GOOD WEATHER.

Hey Bryan,

Made the hotel reservation today at the Holiday Inn in Trenton,Ontario- just off your Highway 401 to the East. We will be there "hopefully" with the 1980 2+2 under us! I'm working on some enhancements like moving the A/C compressor to the original location and moving the alternator to the top of the engine. I installed 3.43:1 Richmond Gears last summer, so I think that is OK also.

We may drive to Watertown on Friday and cross the border early and enjoy the sights in your area before we arrive at the MonzaQue. Our dog Bailey is registered at our local "Bed and Biscuit" for Friday and Saturday night!

This MonzaQue could be the "Worlds Largest Gathering of H-Body Cars" since the days of Quaker City!

Hope more can attend!

Cheers,

Bill

That would be great. I think in '06 we had 18 cars at Quaker.

Well, were not at 18 yet but I have 11 confirmatrions with numerous others yet to hear back from. Me, Bill, another Bill, Dave, Mark, Reid, Ken, Fred, Harry, Ron and Marco with a few other MonzaQue veterans that I have yet to hear back from (Tim, Paul, Russ, Rob, Jim, etc) so we could possibly have as many as 16 H-bodies in my yard?????

Hi Guys, just hittin the puter quick. Barebones, if you are in the Sandusky area, which I think Union Cty is, either Detriot or Pt.Huron is good. Pt. Huron is where I normally cross and it's a beautifull view from the top of the Blue Water bridge! From there to London is only 18 min.s further and can be worthwhile during a holiday! in either country. Detroit's access to the Ambassador Bridge is laden with construction and will be for some time and is tight with trailers of all kinds. I wouldn't recommend that way right now. The 407 will attempt to "bill" you but will be unsuccessful, itsa owned by the country of Spain, FOR REAL! They will not waste time or send representatives from the Spanish Mafia to collect LOL. Use it, will make your life easier.....towing a wagon is hot on the tow vehicle in stop and go and presents other issues when people are beside you takin "neck" bending exercises, this I know when I pull "Military eqip. on an open trailer, then they realize they need over now....(wants me to "arm" said vehicles) nuff said,.....Freddo,.....No! Not the Engine compartment, rather, I will nest comfortably in my own "Hippy-Tent" thnx, but a back massage will be fine B-4 bedd thnx. Happy Motoring to All!

Oh, I know...crossed there once, and you're right...it's a gorgeous view.

I'm quite a ways south of Sandusky (if you're thinking the Cedar Point area). Maybe you meant Upper Sandusky, which is just one county north of me.

I'm in between Marysville and Bellefontaine...a small town called West Mansfield, which is 126 miles southwest of Mansfield.....
