Ken is pretty much bang-on on most of them but ... we have black bears here not grizzlies (and packs of coyotes) and we are fortunate to have very few black flies, it is the deer flies and later on in the day mosquitos that will drain you of your life's blood.

So far the deer flies have been gone by the time MonzaQue comes so here is hoping 3 times is a charm at this location.

I was just kidding about grizzlies anyway. At least I could play dead and they might go away.

Deer flies are alot of fun. We have them here. Nothing repels them. DEET just makes them stronger.

But mosquitoes....now I'm going to drive 500 miles to get West Nile virus. :D

I knew it was one of them biting buggers. Mosquitoes I can handle, but any kind of biting fly is a different story.
With all of the dragon flies around your place I'm surprised there is anything else left flying around.

Mosquitoes won't be a huge problem, we can retreat into the screened gazebo or screened room for protection come evening.

Unfortunately dragon flies dine on mosquitoes and not deer flies (I think they are top of the food chain on our property, lol), in fact I don't think they have any predators, just our hands, but like I said, so far each year we have been here, they have been gone by August.

Bryan, Ron was at my place a few days ago and picked up some parts. If his car isnt ready he might be cruising down with me in the Astre. Hopefully he wont be stuck working over that weekend.Come hell or high water ill be there this year, The astre is running great ive already made two trips to Angus Ont running on the major highways this spring(easter and may 24). Gotten some real surprised looks when cruising past people at 135kph in the left lane lol! 8) Ron wanted to set up both of our tents on the Astre but i didnt think hed be very comfortable trying to sleep on top of my engine lol!

So Bryan, what's the projected attendance thus far?

I'm kinda getting excited about this trip. It's been 23 years since I was in Oshawa. I keep checking Mapquest and looking at routes, but I think crossing at Port Huron will be the best. About about the same mileage as crossing at Detroit. Way too far to go through Buffalo/Niagara.

Crossing at Port Huron is probably more scenic. I'll be a little less than 1/2 way at that point.

I don't have a lot of 'official' confirmations (just send emails out a couple days back) but from what I can gather from responses and from regular attendees we could be looking at 11 cars so far and I still have to hear from a few other regulars and some who were on the fence so we could be smashing MonzaQue records this summer. Definiotely take the Port Huron crossing, Detroit can be a nightmare at anytime and your going through 2 major cities too.

Fred
Great news, missed you last year and Mark needs another tent joining him (along with Ron, of course).

Harry
Get some time off and get your Monza roadworthy ... or else (I'm not sure what else, just sounded good and mean)
