You did come here at a perfect time, the weather has been awesome, amongst some of the best I've seen for Barrett-Jackson. I did hit it for the evening last night since I had tickets, braved it for a bit although I've been feeling a little under the weather. A bit of a shock for me as the indoor tenting area has more than doubled in size from previous years! Actually since the Goodguy's show last November, they were pretty rapid in their construction, I was impressed.

I might have the Astre out this weekend as I need to do some prep for our first race in AZ for awhile. The track formerly known as Firebird Raceway is having their first Friday Night Drags as Wildhorse Pass Motorsports Park next Friday, and I'd like to have it ready for that.

Haven't been to to the B-J auction yet; heading there first thing in the morning. Went to the Russo and Steele today; saw some choice cars go for a reasonable price.

Looooooong day at the B-J auction yesterday; too many awesome cars to possibly see them all. Too much walking, too expensive to go back. Spending the day at the Russo&Steele instead.another guy(customer) from Nova Scotia is here as a bidder.

Nowwww the board works. I came on yesterday to get your phone number and got an error screen. Wanted to see where you were headed. I didn't manage to get my Astre home yet unfortunately, been working solely on my Mustang all weekend. Sorry I couldn't break away. :(

Josh- Maybe next year! What started out as a once in a lifetime "Bucket List" trip just might turn into a yearly pilgrimage. My wife and I certainly enjoyed the Arizona weather and all the great restaurants in the Tempe "Mill District"; I don't think I'll have much trouble convincing her to come back. Beer was cheap, too; $17.99 for the same 24 pack of Coors Light I pay $43 for here. :D
I was totally blown away by the staggering array of vehicles at both the Barrett-Jackson and Russo & Steele auctions. Only spent one day at the B-J but two at the R&S. I really think I prefer the latter; prices are certainly more realistic with most vehicles going for $20,000-$50,000, plus the types mix of cars is more to my taste; musclecars and street rods. I wouldn't rule out making a purchase in the future; I see the opportunity to make some $$$ on a "flip". I'm envisioning a $5,000-$10,000 profit on the right car, and that's after paying the bidder's fees and shipping.
I spent Saturday camped out in the "Bidder's Bar" at the auction as a guest of a customer who has 25 or so collector cars; he didn't buy anything while I was there but he had his eye on a couple of things that were coming up Saturday night and Sunday. The whole thing is pretty exciting up close; I really want to come back again.
Did I mention the cheap beer? :D

Well that's crap. I thought the board was up and down, hit or miss, then I find out today it doesn't work at "work" anymore, but it works at home and on my phone. It's not blocked by my IT guys, so I don't know.

Anyways, yeah, Russo and Steele is more welcoming. Barrett has gotten way too big for me, I attribute it more to a 3 ring circus, especially since I remember it being just barely larger than Russo and Steele many years ago.

That's good you had a good time. Mill Ave is a good place to stay if you're visiting, as long as the college kids don't annoy you too much, lol.
