another option is a tr3650 with an custom front cover and input. You only have one option for shifter location.

Hi, I put a wc t-5 in my 76 monza used a gen 3 camaro transmission. I had my t-5 rebuilt using z spec (mustang ) gears good for about 500 torque. ratio 2.95 1.94 1.34 1.00 .63 Bolts up to stock monza v8 bell housing, shifter is straight up and clears the stock opinging at the rear by about 1/4 inch stock s-10 shift. downside you will haft to modify the cross member to accommodate the transmission mounting pad witch will be at an angle. I used 1x2 tubing to lower the cross member and cut a piece of channel at an angle to to go between the mounting pad and cross-member. toque arm?

good luck jim h

I would be very interested in the McLoud master cylinder. I would also need the "click adjuster" to mount it. PM or eMail me contact info. I think this could work with a Camaro slave cylinder.

Thanks Monzaadict... I picked up the McLoud Hydraulic setup. Smokin' Deal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322309773229
This brings some focus to the project. I have some ideas for remote placement. I could use a Camaro hydraulic slave or internal bearing. Now I need a Camaro Bell Housing if I use a stock slave cylinder. Hmmm.... I wonder how to attach cable ends.
Anyone know what is the depth of the bell housing? I have plenty transmission dimensions, but can't guess placement the shifter yet.

Thanx to bugdewde for this link. viewtopic.php?t=852 And jim327monza for his comments ...This shows that the T5 shifter is not as far back as I expected, and rotation could be solved with a fabricated transmission mount if necessary. I expected to build a new crossmember anyway.

I just received the McLoud Master cylinder and parts. To my surprise, the Master is larger than I thought. The overall length is about 7.5". Haven't been under the hood yet, but its going to be cool...
I'm thinking I will find a Monza V8 bellhousing. I can use the Vega clutch cable as plan B if necessary. The Camaro Bell housing and slave should work fine, but I dont have the parts, so I can't verify the fit with Sanderson shorty headers and all.
Google is my friend. I have been researching T5 transmissions. It looks like the best setup is a G3 Camaro '86 to '92. This is a World Class T5 that will bolt to a Monza or Camaro bell housing with the Muncie bolt pattern. Most T5's have a first gear around 3.53 and 5th .72. With my 3.73 12 bolt rear, first gear would be worthless for street cruising. I am looking for part number 1352-176 or 1352-196. These have 2.76 first and .63 5th. Perfect. that puts me at about 1850 rpm at 60 MPH. Sweet. Anyone have one of these laying around?

Herkry, watch the g3 camaro bell housing it will roll the transmission to the drivers side and put the shifter out of the stock opening. It will let the mounting pad sit flat but require you to cut the tunnel. The T-5 will bolt up to the v-8 monza bell and put the shifter in the stock opening ( mine cleared by approx 1/4 inch at rear) As i mentioned this will roll the mounting pad and you will need to modify cross member. Also the v-8 bell will only take the smaller 153 t flywheel.
Good luck Jim

I can't believe I'm still googling and reading. I have learned a lot. Here are some of the parts I'm selecting and why.
All Hydraulic clutch Camaro Bell housings are rotated. Not Good. I bought a Monza Bell on eBay for $125.
World class T5's are only '88-92 in Chevys. Ford used WC T5 in 85, but don't bolt up.
T5's built for V8 have the 2.95 - .63 Gearset. Some of those have a .73 5th gear. V6 T5's have 3.78 to 4.03 first gear. Too short for my 3.73 rear.
Non WC T5 is rated for 280 torque, WC for 300 torque used on 305ci engines. Neither is suitable for an aggressive engine. I'm not doing any 6000 rpm bang shifts, so either would be usable for me. Otherwise the Trimec TKO at $2500 is the 5 speed you want.
Flywheel is a new 16lb 153T Stock replacement $75 at summit. Its $200 more for a 30lb billet flywheel, but I'm not launching a Cadillac here.
I'm not sure about the clutch yet. The McLeod Street Level Clutch Kits 75025 is a stock upgrade. The McLeod StreetPro Clutch Kits 75125 is good for 400 hp, but requires "slightly heavier pedal effort". Any thoughts on that?
So, all together I will have about $475 inside the bell housing. Now if I can find the right transmission, I can quit shopping and start making sparks.

If you're going to use a hydraulic clutch setup, the "slightly heavier pedal effort" doesn't mean much. but if you're sticking with the cable, the extra "effort" will eventually cause the cable to stretch and/or break. Ask me how I know......

any updates? I found these pictures of a hydraulic conversion done on a monza bellhousing - no info on how it worked. The slave is mounted on a bracket attached to the transmission bolts

I like that; a simple solution to mount a hydraulic clutch setup on a stock Monza bellhousing.

Keep in mind the Camaro WC T5 does not have a speedo cable drive, they only have a speed sensor..
Not a problem if you are updating your gauges, but can get expensive if you need a servo drive motor for the speedo cable.

Cheers,

Hey Guys.. Thanx for the ideas and comments. The slave on Transmission above is cool, but curious how he gets the hydraulic push...
Here is the update... I now have all my parts to move forward. I found a great NWC T5 on eBay. The WC tradeoff for me was a mechanical speedometer and $300 Cheaper. That will pay for the goodies inside the Monza Bell housing. It is a Z28 box with the right gears, a shifter (most don't include one) and a mount.
-- I have the whole setup for the hydraulics. The McLeod Pull style master cylinder is a thing of beauty It would mount nicely, and be a slick addition to the setup. I charged into the hydraulic conversion as an engineering challenge. I love interesting challenges, and this one is successful. I added a couple pix here.
The truth is, that the stock monza clutch setup is very simple and nicely engineered. I also have the parts for that setup as well. (Got a cover for the throw-out arm laying around?)
So for now, I am going with the Monza Cable setup. I'm only waiting for my son to clear a couple projects out of his shop so I can get on the lift. I will have it rolling by spring.
I'm really excited to get this done. Hot Rods are a lot more fun with a clutch.
