:th: It's probably me misremembering what he said when I picked the car up, then. I do remember him saying something about not being able to find the right speedo gear, thus the incorrect speedo reading.

But that still begs the question of whether the car came from the factory with 4.10 posi or not. Joe said he was the third owner, and it didn't sound like the car had been substantially tinkered with before he bought it (still had the EFI unit at that point). Knowing whether it could have come that way or not is more of a curiosity on my part, kind of like doing an archeological dig.

All the responses I have received point to the 4.10 not being an option. Very possibly one of the previous owners had the rear-end changed at the dealership.

By the way Ed, I have had T50's in a number of CV's, including autocrossing with them, without any problems and my engines have not been stock. One thing that I and several other owners have done is to overfill them by roughly a pint. The main problem a few owners had was the seising of the first gear roller bearing but I haven't heard anyone having that occur again once the overfill trick was used. The dog leg shift pattern is different but you'll adapt to it quickly. My current car has the T50 as well as the 3.73 R&P.

That shift pattern isn't at all odd, all modern 3 speeds [1930 forward] share the first three positions, and many, many trucks use that pattern basically any 5 speed based tranny set [5 speeds (with and without a split axle) 10 speeds, 13 speeds and 18 speed I think]
1st-Reverse shifts for being stuck, parking in a tight spot, etc. is the easiest this pattern and 2-3 shifts for small course/street with some spirited driving would be the easiest as well with the 5 speeds pattern. Harry

So for kicks and grins, would y'all say the $1150 asking price for the T-50 currently on ebay (out of a CV, approx. 30K miles) is reasonable? The only data point the interwebs coughed up was one for sale about ten years ago, and folks thought the $400 asking price (at that time) was way high.
