I used to work at NAPA and I know we had a book with speedo cables. You'd look up the ends and lenght you needed and could find a part # that way. you need to know the thread size on each end.

You could look in the bone yards for a 70's gm product that has the old style cruise controll they ran a cable from the trans to the cruise controll speed type sensor. and another cable to the speedo head the one that comes from the trans may be what youre looking for.

I was looking at cables at Autozone and I believe like an early 70's truck had two threaded ends. Haven't tried it yet since I haven't decided whether I want to use the Autometer speedo I have, or the stock GT gauges.

solution for after market double thread ends cable

Postby MIKESMONZA » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:45 pm

Made a call to Auto zone they brought a Pioneer Inc automotive products part #CA-3002 for a 75 chevy 4x4 with two cables ask for the long cable when ordering if not at auto zone It is 63 inch's long and has a small end threaded for the aftermaket speedometer and a normal large one for the tran's It is a lttle longer but works great with the 700 R 4 overdrive mechanical unit,,,,, The only small thing is the firewall rubber gasket/ gromet on the h-body.,,, It would not pass through from out side I puled the gromet from the firewall engine bay and cut four 90 degree cut's in the piece and pushed the small end through.,,,,,, also it has three small clips or teeth to hang on to the fire wall will try a lttle silicone to hold it better as the clip teeth are not holding fast .. I will look at a late model gromet and see if later it could be used and will edit what it is.. thanks all,,,,Mike.,,,,Ps the concrete is roasting me under the car, as the shop's lifts are full and I  did this the old fashion way, with a jack and blood swett and tear's!
