I wonder if GM still services those parts. Unlikely, but still worth a try. There are a lot of 8.5" rears out there.

There is a place down south that I believe will convert your regular grand national to the GNX specific torque arm. Any google search should find it. They deal with just t-type regals and such. Mark

The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

VERY EXPENSIVE to buy those parts on the used market. I bought this instead. Then I sold the 8.5 before I installed it.

I chose the DIY route. It seems to work ok.

This is another option if you want to use a torque arm from an f body...

I just bought that 9" ford rear/Fbody torque arm from quick. That thing is so overbuilt its ridiculous. I think you could hold back the freakin space shuttle with it.
I was going to hook the Jegster torque arm up to it. I had one on an IROC and it really worked well. That car hooked and went.
Has anyone tried to fit the mount for a Jegster into an H-body tunnel yet?

Hey Maxx. I know it was years ago but did you ever get a response about the Jegster torque arm for the f-body? I'm fairly new to the site since I bought a 76 Vega GT wagon and am going to put a stock 350 with a Turbo 350 and want to put in a Jegster torque arm in it. I was thinking with some bending or cutting and welding that I could make it fit the driveshaft tunnel but I want to be sure before I buy one. I also need to know if the other end fits on the Vega rear. I could put spacers if it's too big but I can't stretch it if it's not as tall at the housing. Thanks. Gilbert

Well TexasG. I know that the torque arm from a Vega/Monza is different at both ends from the F-Body, the front should be some fairly straight forward fab. but I don't know which way the rear mount is different, (I believe the F-Body mount is taller at the rear but not sure enough to spend my own money to find out, so I wouldn't spend yours until someone else says so for sure) Sorry I am unable to help out more Harry

Thanks Harry. I thought it was a bigger space on the F-body but like you said, I'd hate to buy one and not have it fit over the Vega rear. Maybe someone will read this and tell us if it fits. Like I said, I can put spacers but I can't stretch it. May I can ask Jegs and they might be able to help me. If I do find out the F-body is bigger I may buy one and report the results here so Everyone will know if it fits or not. It's almost as expensive to buy a tail shaft for a Turbo 350 as the Jegster arm. And one of them is adjustable. Gilbert
