Dust Cover

Postby monza355 » Wed May 02, 2012 10:20 am

Does anyone know if the transmission dust covers are available anywhere? I have a TH350 with the larger (168 tooth) flexplate. Will a stock cover fit? I don't have a stock one or any other one right now.

I do need one. Are they generic, meaning any TH350/350ci cover would work? If they are I can go to the salvage yard and find one I'm sure. My engine and trans are not H-body specific.

I think you should be able to find one of a used GM car if you want to go that route.

maybe its just me, but....i have never run a dust cover. ( on any of our cars. ) i figured it would give me a cooler converter, and since i wont be off-roading this car ( i hope...) i wasnt worried about whacking the flywheel on a rock. am i retarded for thinking this ?

The dust cover isn't intended for any protection for say a rock as it is too thin for that type of protection.
It is in my mind strictly to protect the converter/front seal from the elements, dust, dirt sand, mud, water, etc I would think that as a rotating mass it could sling a bunch of water and related gunk up and around the converter if you would be driving in rain, or on a muddy road.
Just my thoughts.

I wasn't able to order one through Summit.

Any transmission shop with a junkpile should have one.
