Tailshaft housing

Postby Monzter » Tue May 15, 2012 9:20 pm

Can I swap out an original monza th350 for a new rebuilt longtail 350 just by swapping the tailshaft housings? or is that tailshaft longer internally? I would like to put a th350 longtail in this hbody, because it is brand new rebuilt. I am hoping I can just swap the tailhousings and call it a day, but I am thinking that doing this would mean tearing down the whole tranny, and replacing the tailshaft as well as the housing. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

The short answer is no, if you want to use a long tail shaft T-350 you cant use the H-body rear housing, it will work on any short tail shaft T-350 though.

The tailshaft lengths match the tailhousing length. Tailshaft (and rear ring gear) is the last thing to come out of the case.

Yep... If you did do this your out put shaft would be sticking out of the 6" monza tail shaft housing by 3-4 iches depending on what long tail shaft 350th you have...lol..

NO WAY NO HOW. Tranny would need to be totally disassembled and the correct length output shaft installed for you to use the monza 6" tail shaft.

Sorry. Jim
