Which Hydraulic Clutch to use?

Postby vegastre » Tue Oct 02, 2012 2:17 am

I have been shopping around for a WCT5. In the mean time I have been giving some thought to what Hydraulic Clutch to use. Pretty sure I want to go with the external. I have seen the Nissan 'pusher' HC set up on H-Body and my question is? Does anyone know what would be the best Nissan year to use. They are all starting to look the same after awhile.

I think it's easier to use the S-10/Astro van parts as they were designed for the T5 bell housing and the pedal leverage is about the same between an h-body and an S-10.
They are also easy to find in scrap yards or your local parts store.
I'm still using the S-10 hydraulics on my T56.

Hmmm...
Not sure I want to go with a HTOB but I am definately not going to rule it out.

On my '98 S10 I put 210K miles on it and never touched the clutch or trans. Probably 30K of those miles were put on pulling a car trailer. I think it's a pretty good set-up.

HTOB it is, it just makes good sense That is a excellent recommendation. Even though a HTOB is fairly simple its never having played around with one is the only reservation. Good info because this makes me lean to the HTOB as opposed to the slave which I have messed with on occasion. This is why I ask, Thanks to all.

I have a '78 chev monza Spyder V8 has an auto in it now, but had a 4speed that I also have. Wanting to go back to the 4speed.What year S10 hydroulic clutch system would be good? I also plan on using a hydroulic thowout bearing system, due to the lack of space nexr to the 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Thanks

I'll be going with the HTOB since the slave cylinder I have (camaro) looks like it would interfere with my headers

I wish I could give some advice on this but I have not done the swap yet. I too am still in the information gathering phase. I have decided to use a 2000 Firebird 3800 bellhousing T-5 HTOB set up and a reasonably priced aftermarket cylinder of some sort.

Let us know how it works out. Also things like which clutch master cyl you use, where you mount it, etc. My old setup involved using a sunfire master on a funky angle with a Mustang brake booster for clearance- pretty involved. One idea I have is to mount the master under the dash if I could find one with a remote reservoir. That would free up the room on the firewall to use a Vega booster.

Here's the combination I was considering. Master cyl is pretty cool, comes with a couple different reservoirs. Sould be able to cram it up under the dash somewhere
