Which trans to use?

So I'm tossing up on which trans to use - TH200 or 7004R - in my Monza. The good thing about a 7004R is that they were installed in Commodores over here and parts are easy to get. The bad thing is the amount of changes I need to make in order to make it fit. I can get a TH2004R from Bowtie Overdrives in CA for about $1300 plus freight and apparently they will bolt in with only minor changes needed. They were not fitted to anything over here so I'm a bit worried about parts availability. The big question is: does the 2004R have provision for a torque arm mount? I guess if they dont I can get the 7004R for the same price from CA. If anyone is wondering, the best price I can get over here to do up the 700R4 that I have now is $2500.00 Thanks in advance

If you go the 2004r route you will need to relocate or make a new crossmember because the mount is about 6 inches further back than a turbo 350. The torque arm can be mounted to the new crossmember.Several guys here have done that, as far as parts go the 700r4 is a better choice for you but it sounds like things are rather expensive down there. Its your choice in the end . Good Luck

rick, fred here, if you can rebuild a trans or know someone that can , check out this link, especially the monster in a box rebuild kits. http://www.monstertrans.com/store/ . gotta be a whole lot cheaper than shipping a complete trans over there, they do a kit for the 2004r as well as the 700r4 and the other variants.

Thanks Brian and Fred. I like the sound of that kit from monster trans Fred. I think I'll go that way.
