V/8 vs 4 cyl mounting

Postby my79monza » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:05 pm

I now have the engine and tranny (2004R) installed so was checking out the torque arm for mounting and found to my surprise that the tranny now sets back almost 5 inches compared to the 4 cyl W/TM200.
The TM200 and the 2004R measure exactly the same at 28 1/4 inches long so it was a shock to see that the torque arm was too way too long (V/8 torque arm from eBay) so I rough checked the drive shaft measurement and its well over 4 inches too long.
I'm using a modified 350 Hooker mount for the tranny mount and will use a bracket off of it for the torque arm which I think I will just cut in half overlap to the right length and weld together.
Not a huge challenge here but a total surprise as since I am using all factory motor mounts and same length tranny I thought things would line up.
Wrongo.
