'75 rearend, 4 link or torque arm???

Postby nutt » Sun Jan 26, 2014 8:11 pm

I've searched and the info I'm reading says the '75 standard vegas used the 4 link rearend while the cosworths used the torque arm. I have a '72 wagon that I need the 4 link brackets and arms for and this '75 I have my eyes on is cheap cheap. I need the firewall, rearend, seats, dashpad and misc stuff so $300 for the car sounds pretty decent. Just need to confirm the rearend before I travel for pickup. The seller is a lady that doesn't want to crawl under the car.

You have it correct, '75 standards have the four link, Cosworths had the torque arm.

Well turns out it has a torque-arm rear, not original but retrofitted. It appears to be a 7.5 with factory brackets and converted to 5-lug and has a posi tag......not sure of the gearset. My plans for the '72 were a SBC, auto, and the S10 rear I already have. I probably will just use this rear and save myself some welding. The trans that's in this parts car is an auto with the torque-arm tailshaft, not sure if its a turbo 350 yet. It was a V8 car and came with Sanderson shorty header and some bonus parts like slot mags, rear spoiler, front chin spoiler, perfect windshield, 1 perfect grab/bar dashpad, 1 perfect non grab/bar pad and near perfect fr/rr seats. I'm stoked for the money I paid!!

What's the VIN number on the '75, maybe it's a converted Cosworth.

The fifth digit is a B. It does have a rear sway-bar but the panhard bar is obviously not a factory install.

Come on Dick. Who in their right mind would take a Cosworth and go bugger it up with a V8... Wait a minute.
