HELP!! Need Vega 4 speed Manual Information

Postby theweekendhobbiest » Mon May 12, 2014 8:47 pm

Hi, I'm new to the sight and new to H-bodies in general. I have a question about a transmission that I'm currently looking at buying. All I know is that it came out of a Vega (not sure of the year) and that it is a four speed. I was wondering if anyone on here could tell me if it can bolt up to a 350 small block and handle 300hp. Please help right now I'm clueless. I've attached some photos to help, any information is much appreciated. :D
Bell-housing Casting #: 3973180
Trans Case Casting #: 3442 062, 165, 7, and a 6

I think that's the Opel trans.
If you hooked it to a 300 hp v8 it would pop.
Look for a saginaw. Those should work well with the v8.

Thank you for the help. It is much appreciated. Like I said I'm not very familiar with all the H-Body transmissions and when I tried to do some research I could find much on this transmission. In fact I'd never even seen one before, I have a Saginaw 3 speed laying around, was just hoping I could find a good 4 speed. Thanks :)

you can use a Saginaw, Muncie or a Borg Warner /Super T10 with a V8 Monza bellhousing.
It works with the Vega clutch cable setup, 10 1/2" clutch and 153 tooth flywheel.
