Blew up my turbo 350

Postby 72vega383 » Tue May 27, 2014 8:40 pm

Looking for any suggestions for transmissions. I blew up the turbo 350 yesterday in my vega. Not happy.
I would like I find a stick shift while I am at it.

Here's my specs.
383 stroker
3.73 posi rear
26" tall tire

I would love to have an overdrive. I was thinking to go with Saginaw or muncie but gas ain't getting any cheaper these days. Plus they are getting very hard to find.

I looked at a 5 speed overdrive from a 2wd v6 s10
It is the nv3500. It has an overdrive which is nice but I am not sure if the 3.49 first gear is gonna be worth it. And I don't know where the shifter will end up. But I am sure I can get one cheap.
Car will mainly be a cruiser. Race it occasionally.

Any suggestions?

Yea I rethought my decision after I saw torque rating.

I will be going with a 700r4 from a 91 chevy truck 5.7l 2wd. Because my th350 had a 9" tail it will bolt right I place just mod the crossmember and figure out tv cable. I will wire lock up torque converter to a toggle switch.
