Adjustable Clutch Cable for '72 V8 Conversion?

Postby Corellian Corvette » Sat Jul 26, 2014 10:21 pm

Hey everyone!

In the home stretch of getting my Vega running. I had to install headers so I could use a dipstick, but the headers are going to interfere with the longer clutch cable I purchased.

Is there a long, adjustable clutch cable that will work? I was looking for chevy adjustable cables and couldn't find anything. Figured someone with headers has run into this problem.

Thanks!

I have headers and run the stock cable on my 75 V8. Which clutch pedal setup do you have, the early design with the pulley on the pedal assembly or the later direct pull design with no pulley? What length cable are you running? I have not heard of any adjustable length cable. I assume you have the stock early design pedal, there are two length cables for those, 60" and 66".

I have the early design with the pulley. I ordered a longer V8 cable as I was told the stock 4-cylinder one was too short.

Ok, I stand corrected as there are actually 3 different lengths for the early pulley style pedal. The 4cyl is 54", the V8 is 60" and the 75 Cosworth Vega used a 66" version. If you got the 60" V8 one I don't know why you would have a issue, I am running that length with the Hooker 2135 long tube headers. The cable does run through 2 of the pipes and I strongly suggest insulating it for heat protection but other than that fits fine.
