clutch spring placement

Postby robson » Sun Mar 01, 2015 2:57 pm

The clutch return spring goes towards the rear of the car from the clutch fork. What does the rear of the spring attach to? The tranny or else where. I am taking the Automatic out and replacing it with a 4speed. My 78 Chevy Monza 2+2 Spyder has a 350 engine in it, and came from the factory with a 4speed, and the clutch pedal is still installed. Thanks Charles. 386/405-0073

There is a small tab with a hole on the trans crossmember that the spring attaches to. Not sure if automatic cars used the same crossmember, but it should be simple enough to either weld a tab on or maybe just drill a hole if it's not there.
