I am looking for a rear end stud girdle for my 75 monza with a 7.5, but everywhere I look the girdles are for 1977-2005. Will the cover for a 77 and up work on my 75?

If you are referring to the rear cover girdle then yes it will fit, I have one on my 75 Monza.

I'm surprised at how inexpensive these are; Summit has them from $150.

Or even cheaper-

Probably a good addition to anyone's H-body that has more than a few hundred HP.

I figured it couldn't hurt, just make sure you adjust the load bolts correctly. They have a very low torque spec, basically just touching the caps plus a hair more. Do not torque down on them or you could cause more problems. Had mine polished for the visual effect as well.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I will be putting down a fair amount of horsepower so I hope this will help.

Exactly how much is "A fair amount" of HP? From experience, I can tell you it's pretty easy to find the limits of a 7.5" rear end, especially if you can get traction......

And easier yet with a stick! I think you should call Monzaz (Jim), he can tell you what you need, and set you up with it, if it is possible. He has had his car in the 10's with his prepped 7.5"! Harry

My 7.5 posi rear has held together with a mildly built 355 and 4 speed for over 30 years. I don't race it or abuse though. It's not necessarily how much hp you have but how you apply it along with whether you can really hook up. If you don't "shock" the driveline to heavily and more or less "walk" into the throttle it will hold up. If you plan on racing it or manage to get some really good traction that will test the limits as Spence had mentioned.

I've seen some 4th Gen F-bodies running around on the street with 500+HP, and somehow they manage not to shred their tiny rear ends. Put a pair of slicks on one and it's KABOOM!.

Yep, it's all about traction and fortunately most H bodies are limited in that area because of tire size and weight. While this doesn't help out ultimate performance it does save parts

I was no where near that kind of power but my 96 WS6 ran low 12's for years before I sold it. I ran 1.7x short times all the time with drag radials, 4.10 gears and a M6. Never once had a problem with it. I didn't have to do bonzai launches to get it to hook, just "drove" it out. That car was 3650 lbs with me in, back then, it would be more now :(

But anyway, they will hold up to some power but you just can't abuse them.
