pinion gear moved in case, ugh

Postby 71GTKammback » Mon Feb 15, 2016 8:23 pm

After doing the 5 lug conversion on the monza i see that inside the posi 7.5 case i have an issue that now the pinion gears have rotated in the case so i cannot insert the pinion shaft. On a non posi it is easy to rotate the pinion gears so that the shaft will go through. On the posi the springs hold the pinions so tight i cannot rotate them without fear of scoring or breaking something. I suspect i am going to have to pull the case and open tge unit up to take the tension off so i can rotate the pinion gears. That would suck as then I do not think i can put it all back together using the same bolts and shims. I have no prior experience taking posi units apart. This one runs perfectly so i dont want to screw it up. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

the 4 gears in the center are the spider gears, put an axle in one side and turn it to line the gears up with the cross shaft pin hole.
