turbo350 has no gears!?!?!?!

Postby mirage_brat » Fri Jun 10, 2016 6:37 pm

This is really strange but I was on my way to my home town which is 3 hours away from where I currently live and my car was driving just fine for about 2 hours of the drive and I went to the gas station to get some water... well I turned my car off went inside got my stuff came out started my car and had no forward or reverse gears... 5000 miles on rebuilt tranny and torque converter. Any ideas what could have happened?!?!? :censored: :bang: :?:

I suppose if it developed a leak while driving and became low on fluid, you would have the momentum to keep going, but once slowed down that's it. Check the condition of the fluid. That will tell you if it's burned out or not.

If fluid looks ok on the dipstick, make a mental note on dipstick with engine off. Start engine and if fluid level doesn't drop, your torque converter snapped the drive lugs off the inner pump gear. Or "S"/"Z" link came off manual valve.
