Developed a detent cable delete plug for my new TH350 since I don't have a bracket up by the carb and have a ratchet type shifter. There really isn't too many actual 'plugs' out there for this and many are looking for a solution. Some are tapping the hole for 7/16 plug and others are pounding in a 7/16 frost plug into the hole. Both of these are hard to do with the trans in the car and also require the pan to come off to remove the cable pull wire.My search led me to this detent cable repair kit

Could not match the thread size of the repair ferrule for a screw on cap so used a quart bottle oil cap that has a leak proof membrane inside and cut the cap to fit the inside of the ferrule cap

worked it into the cap with a nice snug fit

Installed without removing the pan or lever wire. This can be removed and replaced with the detent kick down cable if desired at a later time.Filled her up with no leaks.

Just so everybody on here knows, this is perfectly OK on a TH350, but on an overdrive transmission(TH200R4 and TH700R4) it is an absolute no-no. On the OD transmissions, the cable is not only for kickdown, but more importantly for throttle position, and leaving it off or having it not adjusted properly will shorten the life of the trans.

Great idea. I have a gasket punch set that may make that easier to make the seal inside.
You are absolutely correct on the overdrive. No pressure rise equals trans damage. Th350 is ok as the modulator determines engine load.

When filling totally slipped my mind of the rubber temporary plug that was in there with the kick down wire also sticking out and ran 3/4 Qt. of Royal Purple Max ATF on the floor.A gasket or oil proof vinyl would work good with a washer or something for support on that big outlet hole.I think this part was $11 or so.

TV cables control trans pressures on the 2004R and 700R4 and newer transmissions. These cables CAN NOT be deleted but here are some resources for proper adjustments and what those adjustments do.
