S10 axle ID

Any way to tell a 26 spline or 28 spline axle without pulling it?
I need to replace the drivers side as it is pitted along the seal area.
Had it out a few years ago to polish it down a little but I made a bone head move and didn't count the splines.
Doesn't leak nearly as bad but I'm about to redo the rear brakes and hardware and want to knock this out as well.

Most auto parts stores now carry rear alxe repair bearings, these have a seal on both sides and offset roller bearings packed with grease. They allow you to use an axle that has some wear on it. You will still have to know if it is an early or late axle.

Got the axles out today. Thinking about ordering new axles from Summit.
Looking for some help on these. The ones I'm looking at are Moser non tapered, 26 spline , 26 3/4" length.
Right length? Will the non tapered provision cause any issues as far as bearing fit?

They are direct fit replacements, just not undercut behind the splines so they can be shortened later.
The bearing surfaces are always larger than the splined area.
