1971-72 Vega 7.5” rear end

I’m planning out a v8 vega build and was wondering if a 7.5” read from a 76 and up vega or Monza would fit the 71-72 without having to hack away at the spring perches. I would also like to possibly use the factory torque arm.

If you can use the torque arm and its associated parts it should fit without any changes.

The Monza rearend utilizes a torque arm that attaches to the transmission tailshaft as well as a panhard bar to locate the rearend side to side. It does not use upper control arms. You will have to do some welding to mount the torque arm to the rearend and the chassis. I beleive the lower control arm mounts are the same as a Vega so no problem there. As Dick mentioned you will have to obtain a correct length torque arm and mount for the trans. It very doable and would be a nice upgrade....
