What year did GM start using the 7.5" rear end in the H-body? I'm building a '74 Vega wagon and I have the rear end from a '75 Monza 5.7 Town Coupe. Could used some help identifying both, hoping the Monza is a 7.5 being a factory 350 car.

The Monza rear end is the torque arm variety. To confirm it is a 7.5 the left front side of the differential has four pass through bolt holes for the 7.5. If it is the smaller 6.5 there will be 4 threaded holes. I was looking for a picture but couldn't find one to post.

Hey There,

I am about to do the exact same. I have a '74 pontiac astre and a 1980 monza posi rear end.
I do have the lower control arms, sway bar and torque arm with the monza rear end.
What would be the best solution? Welding the old astre brackets to the monza rear end to use the excisting upper control arms,
OR find a way to attach the torque arm to my (not original) volvo gearbox and find a panhard/trackbar?
Any advice is welcome, also if there are brackets or such availble.
