More diff questions!!

Postby ozzymoose » Sun Sep 10, 2006 7:08 am

Ok im at it again, needs to know more diff stuff lol

Needs to know if the 8.5 inch 10 bolt has any hope of fitting in the monza housing.I looked at various hbody sites and cant find a mention of it.

Also while im here want to know if the bulk of builders here either toss or keep the driveshaft counter balance box behind the gearbox. Pros and cons of either and if hi output causes any major issues.

Cheers all------- Moose :D

If you are referring to installing 8.5 parts into a 7.5 housing, no, that will not work.

Ok then no troubles or oppinions about driveshaft counterbalace box?? Oh well.

While im being a pain in the rear, does anyone have a close up pic of the torque arm mounted on the diff in a car?? Seen plenty of fbodies now, but they are different, need to see the hbody set up. Wants to start drawing up plans while i wait to get one.

Cheers all.... Moose

Moose,

I thought the counter balance box/weights were only installed on the 4cyl cars. I think they put them in to reduce drivetrain vibration caused by the cylinder.

Torque arm mount on my starfire looks just like the torque arm mount on my 97 camaro. Probably different dimensionally, but you're not going to be able to get dimensions off a picture anyway.

Good Luck!

Not sure about the vibration dampener.............. I don't have one. Neither did my first Vega with a V6/tranny swap.

Here's a scan of a Vega Manual(Haynes) of the types of rears:
I can't get my scanner to resize just the two rears so here's the whole page........ sorry for the size. I tried 5 times
