ok guys, there is a "foot brake" class at san antonio race track, run anything you want but no electronics, how do you "foot brake" a car for a burn out with out over heating the rear brakes???
how can i hold it back while trying to leave on my converter at 3500???? wounder if i can use a line lock to hold it for burn outs and to launch on??? or will they call this electronics as it has a silonoid?
The line locks I'm familiar with on our tow trucks are not electronic. It's just a lever you flip and push the brakes. It stops the fluid from returning untill you release the lever. That may be ok for a burn out but I'd think it would be too slow for launch.
You can use a line lock to do your burnout. It locks the front brakes eletronically with a selenoid. As for stageing the car.Bump into the second amber light, hold your brakes and bring the car up just a little against the converter. Some cars leave better higher in the RPM's some leave better at just over 1200 rpm's.You'll have to play with you car to get the best 60 foots.
ahh thanks kevin i was waiting for you to chim in, saw your post on the roll bar swing out side and plan on doing that with mine as well... kevin do you recommend a trans brake???
Let me know when you can make it to the track. Try a test n tune night weds or friday. I'll go and help you from burn out to finish line. There are a lot of little things that with help you and the car.
Line locks are usually legal for footbrake classes for burn outs only, not for staging.
cool thanks "speed" ill do that, do you want me to bring yopu the vega rear seat at pinks? or wait till i replace the ft buckets as well and ill make a trip to the track and bring you all of them let me know
Either way will work. I finally got a welder so I can start the radiator mounts and frame connectors so it will still be awhile till I get to the seats.
cool ill pm you and we can meet at the track when i get my new ft aluminum buckets and ill bring them all to you.. dont forget the vega emblems and remeind me about your daughters t shirt.... "PINKS ALL OUT"

She's finally back up and running,we got hit with some nasty weather last week also.Made for long days at work.
If your converter is only 2800 rpm stall than youll probably have trouble braking it to 3500...or if youre making more or less torque than you think.
i just didnt see anyone ask those questions so i thought i would.
if youre converter is stalling too low, than looser converter would let you leave at a higher RPM.
