R & D engineering has a mechanical speedo kit for a T-56 for $499 which is more than I paid for my tranny parts originally. The ZF is the better buy as the Mechanical speedo VSS is $75 or less if you go with the NAPA part listed in this thread. On the downside the Hurst ZF 6 speed shifter IS DISCONTINUED. I've been chasing a NOS one around America trying all the Corvette vendors. I'm not sure if one is coming to my house now or not. I got a shipping notification that was cryptic from ZIP Corvettes. They had one listed on their website as "in stock" and now that has been removed. Maybe I got the last one and maybe not. I may wind up with a B & M shifter by default.

Well I have a tracking number from Zip Corvette parts. It looks like I got the last NOS shifter in America that has a link to the internet. Lucky me.

I realize you are in the middle of a hurricane but was just wondering if there is any new info or pictures on this swap?

I've stuffed a Viper T-56 in my Monza using the stock Monza V-8 bellhousing. The only cutting was for the shifter hole. 2" had to be trimmed off the bottom of the hole and rewelded to the top, moving the shifter hole back. The flywheel was a 10.5" 153T 15 lb GM Performance, the clutch was a centerforce 26 spline for a '90 Camaro.

Any questions, ask. I did it first. :D ('00-'01)

Per request this has been relocated to the Best Of forum.
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

I'll add that I have a stock LT1 T56 in my '72 Vega. I haven't yet figured out how to get the exhaust around the hydraulic clutch.

I'd much rather use the beefier LT1 bellhousing than the wimpy-looking Monza one. That, and the hydraulics are very nice to drive on the street.
