Also M+H recently came out with a 26x8.5 stiff sidewall that works well.

That's interesting, how does that compare to the softer sidewall for traction and why the stiffer sidewall? Not flamin just need some education on the subject.

Lots of info out there.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=st ... gle+Search

There is many reasons. Traction, stability. He has a stick car and seems to be going with a 26x8 tire. Short sidewall + stick shock.
Putting a hard hit to a 26x8 tire just kills the sidewall.
Sure you can keep adding air pressure but only to a point.

I would also say to go with a good drag radial, sticky and stiff but if they spin they dont like to recover as well as a slick.

With me in my Vega, it's 2680 lbs. My engine dyno'ed over 650 hp, the best I've ran is a 9.36 @ 144 on pump gas. No nos. Bottles are for other people to use but not for me. I like seeing what I can do on just the engine.

Let me know how the tires work out, it is probably something i should look into. i was also debating on a set of MT ET streets for the road, they will get chewed off quick but i dont think ill put that many miles on it.

goquick- I plan on running nitrous because id rather not have such a radical motor where it will be hard to drive it on the street. 650hp NA vs 650hp with 150hp nitrous kit is a little more managable for me. and my car is a street car.

the tires i have on the car now have a section width of 10.91. they are Nitto 555R's 275/40/17 they barely fit in there. so thats why i wanted to run a smaller tire, technically i can run a 10.50 section width tire. so im not sure what my best options are.

Thanks, it is actually very simple, youll need a complete ls1/ls2 drop out and make a kit that is very similar to the plate kit that bolts to the front of the motor. then a custom transmission mount, and also my car uses a stock length 3rd/4th gen camaro driveshaft. as for the ecu and harness. its a 98 ls1 ecu and a painless wiring harness. make sure if you get an ls2 it is a 05. the 06 and up has a 58x reluctor wheel the 05 has the typical 24 which will work with the 98 ecu.
