Zelie Flashlight Drags...

Postby bill1978v8 » Sat Oct 04, 2008 11:20 pm

I just got back from dinner after the Flashlight drags. I did well at 8-2. I lost twice to a very well put together mid eighties Camaro with a 408 and a 150 shot of NOS. I lost to him by a car and a half the first time and a car length the second time. The highlight of my day was when I raced and beat a replica 427 Cobra. It had a Roush 427 small block in it and was very nice. I beat him by a couple car length's. I also beat the following cars:

T-bucket with a smallblock
1973 Nova 350
Dodge truck with a hemi
1965 427 Cobra replica
Lingenfelter supercharged corvette (C5), very close race, I got him by a fender.
2003 Cobra, supercharged
1964 Nova 355
SVT Cobra (not supercharged)

My brother took pictures and I'll post them as soon as I get them. I did not use my nitrous as I had a problem with the fuses on the way out. I lost the electric fan and had to sit for awhile. I fixed it and ran the rest of the day with no problems, it runs cool sitting in traffic (180-190) and drops down to about 130 when moving.

I love this type of racing as you never know what you'll run against. There were about 250- 300 cars there. It was a blast!!

Looking forward to next year!!

Wow, you were gettin' those "Fast" cars pretty bad!! Seems like a lot of folks forgot about the 'ol Monza's being fast..... Kinda reminds me of back in High School when I had a buddy that had a Monza that ran low 12's. He was smokin' a lot of the guys that "said they had 10 - 11 second cars". It goes to show a real 12 second car will easily beat a bunch of Bench racer's 10 - 11 second cars.

2008 Town & Country - Family transport
2018 Cruze - 35mpg - avg, 49.7mpg - best so far.
2011 Impala - commuter
RIP-2002 Saturn SL2 Commuter car - burned a valve @ 234k miles

It was a lot of fun and everyone liked the car. Not many new what it was though. The people were great to talk to asking questions and stuff. Good times and I can't wait until next year!!

In that one pic "monza vs. chameleon mustang" am I seeing part of the right front tire next to the left rear tire or are your rear tires that wide? Must be seeing the right front tire cuz the other pics don't look like the rears are that wide. I know one thing, that's one hell of a nice looking car and it's fast too!

Wow my tires are wide lol. I didn't notice that. They are only 235/60-15's. Thanks, for the compliments!
