This car was built by Pinifarina based on a GM Design Staff design. Note that the hood profile was slightly lower than the production cars and distance from the front wheel opening to the door opening was also shorter. The front and rear bumpers were also separate from the body. The exterior door handle on this car was integrated inte the vent louvers located behind the door."

"A full-scale clay model of the hatchback coupe is under construction in Chevrolet´s Studio Three (c. 1972) As was common practice, each side of the model has a slightly different design. Note the difference in the windshield area. A drawing of the hatcback appears on the wall behind it. The car in the background appears to be a Vega based mule that might have been used for design evaluation purposes. Studio Three also did work on the Vega, Camaro and Corvette."
