MSD tach adapter for vega?

Postby 77vegaproject » Wed Jul 29, 2009 11:59 am

Hi I bought an MSD 6AL-2 and I was wondering if us h-body guys need a tach adapter for the GT tach to work. I have my tach hooked up to the tach outpu on the MSD but its not working. What do you guys run in between the tach and the MSD? thanks!

No adapter required; your 4cyl tach should work off the MSD just read double the actual revs. Are you hooked up direct or through the OEM capacitor that's sometimes present? PM Tim McCabe on this board, he can repair/recalibrate your tach .

SACRILEGE! A Ford engine in a Vega? I think you have a nonfunctional tach because you're being punished by the automotive gods! But seriously, if the car runs, the tach output of the MSD(usually a male spade on the same end of the unit as the main power wires) should work. I have seen people try to hook the OEM tach to the MSD's white(- coil input) or the black(- coil output), neither of which will work.
