Jon, is that 6.5 rearend complete? It doesn't
sound like it. I'm looking for a 6.5/7.5 to swap in my
Vega for long hauls. The 4.10s in the 12-bolt just
don't sound like fun on the 2002 Power
Tour.

brian,
as it sets now, the 6.5 is complete
except for e- brake cables and would need new brake line
tubing from the junction block to the wheel cylinders.
(it is an open carrier, not a posi). i haven't
started disassembling it yet.
i did kinda want to keep
the bare housing itself,(but thats negotiable)
because i have a complete rear floorpan with all
suspention mounting points still intact, and have a crazy
idea of making a fixturing jig for locating the
suspention brackets for welding for rear end swapping. (i
have an 8.2 swapped in mine, but i didn't do the
brackets on it).
if you're interested, email
me.

later,
jon

We're still working out the deal. I think he's getting cold feet now. Probably found a local buyer and is going to try to back out on me.

Jon,

I'm interested and I have another
6.5" rearend you could have as part of the swap. I
don't know gear ratio or anything on it, but it came
out of my '74 and as far as I know it is non-posi.
Blew a tire towing the car home and lost two lugs, all
the brake parts, drum, and smashed the backing plate
when it blew out, but the rest of the rearend is solid
(didn't bend axles, thank god). If all you want is a bare
housing, however, this would be good. If there was an
economical way to get from WI to MI....

brian,
the bare housing is what i would be
interested in. the attaching brackets didn't get beat up in
the mishap, did they?
as far as an economical way
from mi to wi, i am about 90 miles from chicago. how
far are you?

jon

Hi Jon,

I'm 90 miles from Chicago too. Of
course, Chicago is another 50 miles long it seems. The
brackets were fine, it just lost the wheel and dropped
down on the brake drum, sheering off two lug nuts and
bending the backing plate. The brackets are
fine.

brian,
if you want, i will hang on to the rear
end for you.
maybe one of these weekends we could
arrainge to meet someplace in chicago. my wife loves
chicago, and maybe we could eat lunch together, and swap
vega stories.

later,
jon

Would love to do that. It looks like I may be making a trip to Cleveland in the next couple of weeks as well.
